Biography
Chen earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan in 1997. He then joined ADI where he quickly gained recognition as an expert in isolation and integrated magnetic technology and has contributed significantly to all aspects of product development, including design, packaging, process development and applications engineering. Additionally, Chen has expanded his role to influence product definition, strategic planning and interaction with customers while also publishing extensively in leading technical journals.
Chen, who holds 13 U.S. patents and has four pending, played a key role in the development of ADI's iCoupler® digital isolation technology used in a wide variety of applications, including medical devices and industrial equipment that must comply with electrical safety regulations. iCoupler digital isolators replace optocouplers in providing a means to transmit data and power across an isolation boundary that protects people and equipment from dangerous voltage surges. Chen's contributions in the areas of iCoupler product development greatly enhanced ADI's leadership in this product category.
